Coventry Artists’ Cooperative

Coventry Artists’ Co-operative aims to increase public access to, and awareness of, Coventry’s contemporary visual arts scene. It provides affordable studio spaces, and promotes exhibitions and events featuring members’ work. The Co-op is based in the centre of Coventry, and shares its premises, Artspace, with its Community Arts sister company, Arts Exchange.

Artspace studios are rented by artists practicing in a variety of different art forms ranging from digital media and installation work to public art sculpture, ceramics, textiles and painting.

Coventry Artists’ Co-operative aims are:

  • To increase awareness of contemporary visual arts practice
  • To contribute to a vibrant city-wide artistic community and the wider cultural profile of Coventry
  • To improve the profile of both individual artists practice and group activities
  • To enable members to exhibit and collaborate together to develop and promote high quality professional practice
  • To support individual artists through group crits, skill sharing, collaboration and social events
  • To promote high quality work at a national and international level by emerging and established artists
  • To provide affordable space for artists to work

Terry Williams

I was born in 1948 and graduated from Coventry University with a BA and MA in Fine Art. My work has always divided into two categories. First there is the figurative work, which could be described as Post-Expressionist in that although the imagery is highly conceptualised, it is nevertheless concerned with exploring the symbolic value of painterly painting.

Vicky White

Kate Turner

Kate Turner is a founder member of the (then) Coventry Artists Co-operative. With an MA in Fine Art mixed media she has worked extensively on community led public art projects, which often have strong links to the urban regeneration taking place in Coventry’s more deprived and multi-ethnic areas. This has involved project managing large scale European and Government funded work.

Dawn Twite

Dawn completed an MA in Fine Art at Coventry University in 2000. Her work is predominantly concerned with the transience of youth, and utilises archive photographs enlarged and printed onto tissue and handmade paper.
