Coventry Artspace aims to increase public access to Coventry’s contemporary visual arts scene.
I was born in 1948 and graduated from Coventry University with a BA and MA in Fine Art. My work has always divided into two categories. First there is the figurative work, which could be described as Post-Expressionist in that although the imagery is highly conceptualised, it is nevertheless concerned with exploring the symbolic value of painterly painting.
Since completing a PGDip/MA in electronic arts in 1997, Vicky has produced interactive, screen-based multimedia projects and now attempts to combine digitally produced and/or authored images and text with traditional media such as collage, drawing and textiles.
Kate Turner is a founder member of the (then) Coventry Artists Co-operative. With an MA in Fine Art mixed media she has worked extensively on community led public art projects, which often have strong links to the urban regeneration taking place in Coventry’s more deprived and multi-ethnic areas. This has involved project managing large scale European and Government funded work.
Dawn completed an MA in Fine Art at Coventry University in 2000. Her work is predominantly concerned with the transience of youth, and utilises archive photographs enlarged and printed onto tissue and handmade paper.
Simon Morris uses a variety of media, crossing disciplines with little respect for rigid conventions. Using computers and new technologies figures heavily in all aspects of his work.
Ever since I can remember I have always taken an interest in drawing and painting. Having finished my diploma in Art & Design at Hereward College in 1994, I went on to do a Fine Art degree at Coventry University, where I specialised in figurative painting.
I am a ceramicist. I co-run the ceramics group Clay and Fire with Angela Atkins, and also run a Saturday clay group at Artspace, called Clay People.
Jackie is a painter, and is currently studying for an MA at Coventry University.
I am a ceramic artist and I have occupied a studio space at Coventry Artspace since 1993, where I have had experience of teaching the ceramics group Clay and Fire.
Nicola Richardson is predominantly an installation artist, with extensive experience of garnering community participation in public art contexts. She has been a Director of Artspace for 3 years and manages the finances for Artspace Artists exhibitions and events programme.
