Arty-Folks is for people who are recovering from mental health problems and mental stress, and who are interested in the visual arts. You do not need any previous experience of art, total beginners and people who just want to have a go are welcome, as well as people who might consider joining accredited courses in future. Since 1996, Arty-Folks has been offering weekly visual arts workshops run by professional artists. The workshops are fun, focused, educational, creative and challenging. At Arty-Folks you will find a supportive community of people from similar backgrounds, and artists who will encourage you to develop your personal artistic interests and to find your own individual expression. Please note that Arty-Folks does not offer counselling or art therapy. Answerphone: (024) 7663 3203 Email Arty-Folks

Pippas has held arts workshops during term time for unwaged/unemployed women since 1989. Experienced tutors are employed to lead projects based on arts and crafts. Groups of up to 20 women have taken part in textiles, photography, ceramics and sculpture workshops. Exhibitions are held after each project. Meetings are friendly and informal. No experience necessary. All materials and tuition covered by £1 weekly subscription. We have funding from Coventry City Arts Panel, The National Lottery, Coventry Women’s Development Network along with support from Coventry Unemployed Workers Project and Coventry Artists Cooperative and Arts Exchange.

Clay & Fire is a friendly and informal weekly ceramics workshop, run from 7-9.30pm every Thursday evening. It is lead by members of Coventry Artists Co-operative and welcomes both complete beginners, or those who have some experience of ceramics but have no access to a studio or wish to meet other practitioners. The cost is £2 each week which includes materials and firings, except in the case of unusually large pieces which may incur extra charge, and the help and advice of the workshop leaders. Several outdoor raku firings are also organised each year, and a community event in the city centre is currently being planned.
