I was born in 1948 and graduated from Coventry University with a BA and MA in Fine Art. My work has always divided into two categories. First there is the figurative work, which could be described as Post-Expressionist in that although the imagery is highly conceptualised, it is nevertheless concerned with exploring the symbolic value of painterly painting.

What I call the ‘inbetweenies’ form the other category. The imagery of this work crosses between figuration, abstraction, surrealism, cartoons and montage. What seems to inform and combine both these categories into a unifying whole is a kind of sardonic, dare I say humorous, humanism.
